Be wise, don't act alone: Hadi

PAS president Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang has reacted to recent remarks exchanged over statements criticising PAS by Selangor state Exco Dr Hasan Ali and former deputy president Nasharudin Mat Isa.

According to Hadi (pic), PAS members in their struggle for Islam should not pretend to be knowledgeable if they were not, and cautioned against acting alone which he described was "not smart".

Hadi said it was a must for members to abide by the party’s direction and decisions, and reminded them that the party's Shura (Consultative) council was comprised of respected Islamic scholars to ensure the Islamic party remained true to its constitution.

“The council is also representative of all party wings,” he added.

On the party's cooperation with Pakatan Rakyat, which has been a central point of contention reflected by the views of Hasan and Nasharudin, Hadi again stressed that such an alliance was in line with Islamic political approach.

“Remember, UMNO as the backbone of the BN government has failed to achieve its goals after more than 50 years of rule because they have not positioned Islam at the right place as required by the Qur'an and the Prophet’s teaching. Is 50 years still not enough?” he asked.

Hadi said PAS has grown to be a strong political party and was able to wither the ups and downs of its Islamic struggle without being tied to any individual's action.
