EVERYBODY thought the spat between DAP National Chairman Karpal Singh and Deputy Chief Minister II of Penang, Prof. Dr. P Ramasamy has been resolved through a statement issued by DAP Life Advisor, Dr. Chen Man Hin on 12th December.
Apparently, the issue is far from over.
Ramasamy on Thursday had been quoted by an English daily of saying; his critics were plotting against him because he did not respond to their overtures for projects and favors. Many believe that such remark is referring to Karpal, RSN Rayer (Assemblyman Sri Delima) and A Tanasekharan (Assemblyman Bagan Dalam).
Annoyed by Ramasamy’s remark, Karpal on Saturday had issued a bold statement to Ramasamy, lodge a report to Malaysia Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) on the matter or resign from his post as a Deputy Chief II of Penang for defying party instruction not to refer the party internal problem to the press.
Ramasamy action indicating that there are things still ‘hanging’ between him and Karpal. Whatever decision makes by the party’s three-member committee that was appointed to resolve the ‘warlord-godfather’ issue earlier, seems not affecting Ramasamy at all.
Whatever it is, clearly as a party member that holds senior position in the state government at the same time, Ramasamy had failed to fulfill his responsibility when looking for media to air his grievances.
Therefore, I simply didn’t understand why Karpal must choose a difficult path by asking Ramasamy to resign when he can always ask Lim Guan Eng as a Chief Minister to remove him from his current position. Violating a party’s directive is not a minor mistake in DAP. Furthermore, when it has a zero tolerant history against members who dares to violating party instruction.
DAP must be brave enough to take action aginst Ramasamy. We don’t want later people thinks it’s all conspiracy to keep the brand-name in the minds of supporters, in short, gimmick.
